Marfy 3393 - Not everything works out perfectly.

It is such a cute thought.  The cinched waist, the curved seams and the angled neckline.

It should be so perfect with a white organza lace overlay on top of white linen.

I wore it to Austin.
OK, I finished it on the way to Austin.
Without much time under the critical eye.

Everyone thought it was cute and told me how much they liked the fabric.

"Bless your heart"
*that's southern for "you silly fool"*

Something is just off.
OK, I was in a hurry and didn't use any interfacing.  First mistake!

But, the proportion is just wrong.

I love the fabric.  I love the idea.
I think I need to add an inch above the waist and 2" below the waist.  at least.
The interfacing will help.  Fortunately this lace organza overlay is about 10 years old and I have a couple of yards left over.  Yes, I said a couple left over.

So will the diet.  I have finally finished my last work deadline until August and I am pledging to lose 20 pounds by then.

No more 10 hour days.
No more working weekends.
No more excuses!

  1. Did you try it with a skirt? I agree it is too short for pants but it might work with a fuller skirt.

    Good to see you back!

  2. It's nice - maybe not what you had in mind, but it's a nice casual look .

  3. I can see what you mean, but how does it look with a skirt the proportions might be better. So glad that work has settled down and we will see you some more.

  4. I am sorry you don't like the first draft but I think with the alterations you identified you will be happier with it. It is a lovely top and I think it is worth a second try.

  5. You're spot on to what alterations you need. Cute style!

  6. Becki I love this style on you, it should be be fully interfaced yes but the style looks fab and the fitting tweeks are not much: The bust length is fine but darting out about 1/4 inches on the front armscye would be good, there is some slight gapping there. I agree that an inch above the waist is good too and the button/closure is hitting your torso a little on the high side, in the fashion drawing the vest closes slightly above the waist. Also agree that adding lenght below the waist is good but I think you need just 1.5 inches there.

  7. I am enjoying seeing what you wore in Austin! You will make good on your diet, I'm sure..

  8. You look wonderful! You have great figure for all these Marfy creations.
