MMM Day 11 and some creative sewing space

Friday theme for this week is your creative space.  Since I have done some cleaning and purging I can now show more than just a glimpse in the background of my sewing den.

First of all, creative spaces are inherently disorganized.  I have a sewing 'room' not a 'Studio'  I reserve the right to be cluttered.

My machine faces a beautiful south facing window out to the street in front of my house so that I can spend a rare day off and be completely in touch with the outside world.

Its fabulous for sewing, but sucky for picture taking.  My full length mirror which features prominently in several phone-camera photos is on the opposite wall making for many stinky back-lit horror shots with the flash shining in one corner.

But its great for sewing which is the whole point.

So, the MMM shot-o-day is off to the left, facing the wonderful silk charmeuse 'Den-Of-Color-n-Softness'

For the last Saturday appearance at the office (fingers crossed) I wore my old favorite black denim jeans and my favorite Marfy 2762 blogged about here but never actually finished or reviewed.  Hmmm I really need to do that...

Or I could sew.

I love everything about this except the lack of pockets.  I also need to put the pockets on it.  I really need to do that.  Big patch pockets with yellow zippers instead of flaps.  The shoulders are very flattering.
The ties are kind of an awkward length though, too long for a buckle, but too short to tie into a bow.  I still love it.  Its got a partial lining with hong-kong finished seams and perfect for summer.  Its one of those sewing zen pieces that you just can't stop wearing.

MMM - Days running together - 9 and 10 and loving those jeans!

Still working... but keeping up!

This is Thursday, day 9 and there is a big work deadline on the 10th.  Can you tell that the stress is getting to me?  I posted this only because I think its funny!

The voices told me to smile but I just didn't feel like it!

Me Made jeans Burda 8805 or whatever...
Purchased top from Sax-Off-Fifth, love the color.  Kate Spade sweater that was over priced at 60% off!  Seriously, its square, boxy, couldn't be less flattering if it tried!  Love the Kate Spade necklace though.

Yep, here it is without the sweater.

Same look on my face though.  I took 8 pics and I look like that in all of them! I think I worked from 7:30AM until about 8:30PM.

Thank goodness for re-eye fix.  If only you could get that IRL...

For Friday it was stormy in the morning.

My new jade colored jeans Burda 8805 (or whatever) and a new favorite white shirt from Marfy 9468.

I like the color and fit of the jeans but the fabric is pretty light weight and either the lycra or the nylon in the content makes my butt saggy by the end of the day.  I cold tighten them, but then my cellulite shows...

This is one of the 3 of these shirts that I made a few months ago and it looks great!  I promise, there are cuffs on the shirt, but it was deadline day and a roll-up-your-sleeves day.  i didn't get much done, but I did get out of my office and mingle.  My hard-drive on my work computer died at 930 so I was just useless for 3 or 4 hours.  But thats another rant...

MMM - 13 Day 7 and 8

I know, I missed a couple of days, but my weekend gear was MM Jeans for the office on Saturday and Sunday for working from home.  Yep, that's 7 days a week from now until our first quarter deadlines on May 10th and 15th.  Sounds unprofessional, but all the guys are in shorts and flip-flops!

Interestingly, some of the guys complain because girls can wear sandals all the time.  I told him that as soon as he gets a monthly manicure and gets that toe hair trimmed, he can wear his sandals.

Me Made May Day 7 I wore a perfect outfit to beat the Mondays.  My 'old' blue leather jacket (2006 or so), Marfy 0692 in fabulous Cavalli silk charmeuse and my favorite pair of pants from BWOF 7-2009.  Great out fit for a chilly office when its 80 outside.  I'll post a better pic of that blouse when I wear it later, and I'm sure I will.

Today wasn't so impressive.  On a hunch I pulled this old Vogue 1206 out of the back of the closet (of course, its MMM).  I wondered why I don't wear this more often and thats probably because its really not that flattering on me.  I look at that and I see hips and belly!  Its a little better with the jacket on, but it doesn't fit very well either.

The pattern which is now out of print and isn't on the Vogue patterns website, but the few reviews are fairly flattering but on better figure types.

I don't mind the fabric, its a nice men's wear woolen that is high thread count and is pretty comfortable to wear.  But, its brown.  I never wear brown and this isn't a very good argument for it.  It doesn't even look good in
day light.

I need to shelve this one until I have lost about 30 lbs.
You might argue that is doesn't look that bad on me (my husband likes it), but I just don't feel pretty in it.  The top doesn't fit too well, but I don't think thats the problem, it just doesn't flatter my figure.

Now I'm back to MM jeans for tomorrow.

I really love this Me Made May thing, it has made me sit back and examine my wardrobe.  It has also made me realize that I need to get out more. Some day I have got to get to Perth Australia, have you seen those pictures!  hand made by carolyn is a great photographer, but you've got to have something to work with and whether on the beach or in the trees it looks like she lives in a travel brochure!
